Moldovan army gets second batch of armoured vehicles from Germany
Moldova's Defence Ministry has said that a new batch of MOWAG Piranha armoured personnel carriers from Germany will arrive in the country.
"The National Army expects the arrival of three more Piranha armoured personnel carriers from Germany on February 14," Gazeta.Ru reports, citing the ministry press service.
Earlier, the Moldovan Armed Forces had already received the first of the 19 Piranha armoured personnel carriers promised by Germany. The first three vehicles were handed over to the Moldovan Armed Forces, the rest will be delivered during 2023.
Former German Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht, who was still in office at the time, stressed that the rapid delivery of armoured personnel carriers proves effective cooperation between the two countries. In her opinion, Moldova, having such equipment, will be able to better coordinate its actions with the forces of other states. The minister stressed that Germany will continue to "firmly support Moldova in the modernisation and strengthening of its military capabilities".
