Wildfire in Spain's Aragon expands beyond 12,000 hectares VIDEO

A wildfire in Spain's northeastern autonomous community of Aragon has spread to more than 12,000 hectares, according to a statement issued by regional authorities.

As a precautionary measure, residents of five small settlements — around 1,000 people in total — have been evacuated, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

Several roads have also been closed due to the blaze that broke out on July 15.

Hundreds of personnel and aerial firefighting assets have been deployed to contain it.

No injuries or fatalities have been reported.

Separately, a wildfire that broke out in the southern autonomous community of Andalusia on July 9 claimed the lives of 13 people, the majority of them foreign nationals.
