Mysterious Ebola-like illness kills three in Tanzania

Tanzania is investigating an outbreak of an unknown disease that has killed three people.

A total of 13 cases have been reported in the Lindi region, located in the south of the country, BBC reports.

Symptoms of the disease are similar to Ebola: fever, severe headaches, fatigue, and bleeding, including from the nose.

The country's Ministry of Health clarified that preliminary results of laboratory tests ruled out the presence of the Ebola virus. Authorities are tracing the contacts of those infected, and five people are currently in isolation.

Tanzania's chief medical officer Aifello Sichalwen urged Tanzanians to remain calm while the investigation continues. He also urged anyone showing similar symptoms to seek immediate medical attention.
