NATO warships to arrive in Finland

A detachment of NATO warships will arrive in Helsinki on May 27.

"The visit is part of planned NATO operations in the Baltic Sea," the Finnish Navy said, Interfax reported.

The detachment is led by the former Norwegian coast guard patrol ship HNoMS Nordkapp, which now commands NATO's second minesweeper detachment. FGS Rottweil from Germany and FS Pegase from France will also participate in the visit.

These NATO ships specialise in maritime protection and maritime surveillance.

Together with the Finnish mine countermeasures ship Katanpaa, they will later participate in NATO exercise BALTOPS 23 in the Baltic Sea.
