Russian forces carried out nearly 50 strikes on populated areas of Ukraine’s Sumy region over the course of a single day, injuring a civilian and causing widespread damage, according to regional authorities.
The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleg Hryhorov, said the attacks targeted 25 settlements across 12 communities. During one of the strikes, an FPV drone hit a civilian vehicle, injuring a 60-year-old man. In the Shostka district, several strike UAVs triggered a large-scale fire.
Hryhorov reported significant damage in multiple areas. Residential buildings were destroyed in the Velykopysarevska, Esmanska, and Hlukhivska communities, while a residential building was damaged in the Seredino-Budska community. In Krasnopolska, a passenger car was damaged, and in Shostka, non-residential premises and several vehicles were hit. As a result of the attacks, six people were evacuated.
The State Emergency Service said several Russian UAVs struck one of the settlements in the Shostka district, severely damaging non-residential buildings used to house civilian vehicles. The strikes sparked a large fire, which emergency crews later brought under control and extinguished.
