Netherlands unveils $233 million in aid package for Ukraine
The Netherlands has announced a new €209.5 million ($233.3 million) support package to Ukraine.
These funds will be allocated towards the restoration of critical infrastructure in Ukraine, Caliber.Az quotes Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp as saying on X.
As we gather in New York, Ukrainians are bracing for one of their toughest winters yet. For #Ukraine to endure, it needs energy. At today's meeting with G7 Foreign Ministers and partners, including Ukraine's @andrii_sybiha, I stressed that we must join forces to provide this. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/HNePuoWPwu

“NL has announced a new €209.5 million ($233.32 million) support package, aimed at restoring critical infrastructure - including via EBRD - and providing humanitarian aid. We are contributing €45 million ($50.12 million) to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, and are funding the delivery of essential equipment,” Veldkamp said.
Note that, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during her visit to Ukraine on September 20, announced $180 million in aid aimed at restoring Ukraine’s battered energy sector.
This funding will come from seized Russian assets, with von der Leyen stating, “It is only fair that Russia contributes to repairing the damage it caused.”
“As temperatures begin to fall, the EU is prepared to increase its support for Ukraine. Together, we are ready for the winter ahead,” von der Leyen added.
Since the invasion began in 2022, the EU has already provided more than $2 billion in energy assistance to Ukraine.
According to a joint report from Ukraine’s government, the World Bank, the European Commission, and the United Nations, a total of $11 billion will be needed to fully rebuild Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
