New era in Kyrgyz-Tajik ties as sides ink sixteen cooperation accords
Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have signed 16 agreements covering a wide range of cooperation areas during Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov’s state visit to Dushanbe.
The key agreements include the establishment of an Intergovernmental Council, a confidence-building measures pact, a cooperation program between the countries' foreign ministries for 2026–2027, and joint initiatives in geodesy, cadastre, industry, accreditation, environmental protection, and standardisation, Caliber.Az reports per Kyrgyz media.
Additionally, the two sides signed memorandums of partnership in the fields of social policy, broadcasting, and agricultural science.
Particular emphasis was placed on the agreement to create a Business Council between the countries’ chambers of commerce and industry.
Following the talks, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening political dialogue and expanding comprehensive cooperation.
President Japarov expressed confidence that the visit would mark a new chapter in Kyrgyz-Tajik relations.
