Kyiv bans all entertainment events amid worsening security situation

07 September 2026 16:24

Ukraine’s Kyiv has temporarily banned all entertainment and sports events held outdoors or inside buildings without shelters “due to the worsening security situation,” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced.

“Starting September 10, the curfew in Kyiv will be shortened: it will run from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., rather than from midnight.

Public transport will also operate for an additional hour, meaning the metro will close at around 11:30 p.m.

The operating hours of restaurants and shopping malls will remain unchanged,” Klitschko added.

The day before, Kyiv introduced a differentiated alert system for air threats.

Meanwhile, local channels reported that Russia was moving strategic bombers to Olenya airbase. According to the reports, four more Tu-95MS bombers were being redeployed from Russia’s Far East to Olenya, with the aircraft allegedly already armed with cruise missiles.

This could bring the number of Tu-95MS bombers ready at Olenya to six, while another four Tu-160 bombers remain in the Far East. The channels believe Russia is completing preparations for a possible large-scale missile strike.
