Hungarian PM announces start of work on new constitution

The Hungarian government has begun work on a draft of a new constitution aimed at reflecting the interests of the entire society and preventing it from being used in the interests of a single political force, Prime Minister Peter Magyar has said at the opening of the parliament’s autumn session.

He noted that they are beginning to address one of the most important issues for Hungary’s future — creating guarantees that a system capable of setting the state against the entire people will never emerge in the country again, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“Together with all people and for all people, we will write a constitution that will never again be used by any single political force to strengthen its own power,” Magyar added.

According to the PM, the new document should become “the cornerstone of the legal foundation of our common life” and guarantee the stability of democratic institutions.
