North Macedonia supplies Ukraine with aircraft, ammunition
North Macedonia has provided Ukraine with helicopters, aircraft, tanks, and ammunition, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.
"We have delivered Mi-24 helicopters, Su-25 aircraft, T-72 tanks, and numerous munitions and artillery. We have done what we could," Mickoski stated in an interview with the Austrian media, Caliber.Az reports.
He emphasized that North Macedonia's foreign policy and security strategy align fully with EU policies. He also noted that, per capita, North Macedonia ranks among the top five donors to Ukraine.
The country had a total of 31 T-72 tanks, all of which were supplied as assistance from Russia in 2000 during the conflict with Albanian separatists.
Notably, as part of military aid to Ukraine to fight against Russia, The White House recently announced its latest package of military support for Ukraine, which includes $425 million worth of air defence systems, air-to-ground missiles, armoured vehicles, and other munitions.
As a continuation of support, on October 23, the US also agreed to provide Ukraine with $800 million aimed at boosting the country’s production of long-range drones.
Besides, this month, Germany also vowed new military aid to Ukraine, with a package including one air defence system each of IRIS-T SLM and IRIS-T SLS, eight Leopard 1A5 tanks, and 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles.
The new package also features Sea Sparrow guided missiles, six Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers, ammunition for Leopard 1, Leopard 2 tanks, and Marder infantry fighting vehicles, as well as missiles for the IRIS-T SLM system.
Russia's invasion began with dozens of missile strikes on cities all over Ukraine before dawn on 24 February 2022.
