Over 26,000 Kyrgyz citizens vote abroad in parliamentary elections PHOTO
Voting abroad in the early elections for the Kyrgyz Parliament (Zhogorku Kenesh) concluded on December 1 at 10:00 a.m. Bishkek time, with over 26,000 citizens casting their votes abroad.
The last polling stations to close were six locations in the United States — Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, Caliber.Az reports, citing the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry.
A total of 26,066 Kyrgyz citizens participated, nearly three times the turnout of the 2021 parliamentary elections, when 9,826 voted.
Voting was conducted at 100 polling stations across 89 cities in 34 countries.
The Foreign Ministry ensured round-the-clock coordination of the overseas polling stations in accordance with the law.
A total of 4,294,243 citizens were registered to vote, with at least 2,492 polling stations operating across the country. The official election results are expected to be announced by December 14.
