Trump says Iran should be prepared for possible US attack

14 July 2026 09:14

US President Donald Trump has warned of a possible attack on Iran's Pickaxe Mountain site, saying Tehran should be prepared as American forces carried out a fresh wave of strikes against the country.

In an interview on The Hugh Hewitt Show, he said Pickaxe is a possible target for a "nice big fat shot" right near the front door, Caliber.Az reports.

"We're going to take out Pickaxe Mountain. Tell the Iranians to be ready," Trump noted.

The president added that although the United States has observed "no activity" at the site, which contains two deeply buried tunnel complexes, Washington would "probably give Pickaxe a shot relatively soon."

Situated in the Zagros Mountains near Iran's damaged Natanz uranium enrichment facility, Pickaxe was not among the three nuclear sites struck by the US military in June 2025.

Trump nevertheless stressed that the United States has "a lot of eyes" on the installation.

Experts have previously assessed that the depth of the underground complex could make it resistant even to America's most powerful bunker-busting munitions. The facility is believed to lie as deep as 2,000 feet beneath granite and is suspected of housing uranium enrichment infrastructure and stockpiles.

Trump's remarks came as US forces launched another round of strikes against Iran at 4:45 p.m. EDT on July 13, just hours after the president announced that the US Navy would restore a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

"These strikes will continue imposing a heavy cost on Iranian forces and degrade their ability to attack innocent civilians and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz," U.S. Central Command said in a statement.

The latest operation marked the third straight day of American attacks on Iran. U.S. officials have described the campaign as retaliation for Iranian strikes against commercial vessels attempting to pass through the strategic waterway.

"We're going to hit them very hard tonight, and we're going to hit them hard tomorrow. And there's not a damn thing they can do about it," Trump told Hewitt.
