Poland to host first "Coalition of the Willing" exercises, PM says

14 July 2026 11:37

The first military exercises of the "Coalition of the Willing" on Ukraine will take place in Poland in September this year, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced, following a meeting of coalition leaders in Paris.

At a press conference, he said the exercises would involve British and French troops, Caliber.Az reports, citing Polish media.

Earlier reports said that European peacekeepers, whom Western countries intend to deploy to Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement, would begin training exercises in neighbouring countries in the coming months.

Warsaw also offers to provide logistical support for a potential international peacekeeping mission in Ukraine but does not intend to deploy its own troops.

Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said his country is willing to serve as a logistical hub for any future peace operation while maintaining that the participation of Polish armed forces would not be appropriate.

"We are ready to provide a logistical platform for a possible peacekeeping operation in Ukraine, but the involvement of the Polish army in such an operation would be inadvisable," Sikorski noted.

The minister also underscored the importance of continued US involvement in supporting Ukraine and in shaping future security arrangements.

According to Sikorski, Ukraine has the sovereign right to determine its own future, including the format of international assistance and the security guarantees it may seek once the war ends.
