Over 3,000 km of roads under construction in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh For infrastructure restoration/VIDEO
Azerbaijan is undertaking a major project to restore road infrastructure in the recently liberated territories of Karabakh, with the construction of 45 roads covering a total of 3,382.6 kilometres.
Of these roads, 1,076.1 kilometres are of national significance, while 2,306.5 kilometres are categorized as local roads, Caliber.Az reports.
To date, the construction of 7 roads, spanning 315.9 kilometers, has been completed. Additionally, work has been partially completed on a 24.2-kilometer section of the Shukurbayli-Jabrayil-Hadrut road, part of a larger 39.7-kilometre project.
In line with the State Program, construction is also underway on internal roads in eight key cities—Shusha, Aghdam, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Zangilan, Kalbajar, Jabrayil, and Lachin.
Furthermore, under the orders of the President of Azerbaijan, the construction of eight motorways in various villages and six inter-district motorways is progressing.
As of now, significant infrastructure has been completed, including 28 tunnels totaling 59.6 kilometres, 392 bridges extending 8,339.1 metres, and nine viaducts with a total length of 1,695 metres. These efforts are crucial for re-establishing vital transportation links and enhancing connectivity across the region.
Since 2021, Azerbaijan has built and repaired over 2,700 kilometers of motorways, including 1,430 kilometers of roads deemed locally significant, Asadov further stated.
The ongoing road infrastructure projects in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions include the construction of 45 road tunnels with a total length of 69.1 kilometres, as well as over 463 bridges, viaducts, and overpasses spanning approximately 13.4 kilometres. The Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway, categorised as Class I, stretches for 81.7 kilometres and features 11 bridges, 7 tunnels, and 9 viaducts.
