Pashinyan: Armenia’s opposition composed largely of foreign emissaries
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that today’s consolidating opposition in Armenia is, in essence, almost entirely made up of foreign emissaries. He made the remarks during a meeting with members of the Civil Contract party and residents of Kapan, Armenpress reports.
According to Pashinyan, the central focus of the state’s ideology should be Armenia’s own interests, not those of foreign “sponsors.”
“Was Armenia, a thirty-year vassal state, ever truly dignified? Today’s consolidating opposition is, in essence, 100% foreign emissaries. People come to the homeland and present themselves as representatives of foreign interests while speaking about dignity.”
Pashinyan emphasised that the current leadership is focused on strengthening the Armenian state. He also noted that the country’s current declaration of independence is effectively a declaration of conflict, as making claims against other states is not a sign of true independence.
