Poland sends Zelenskyy’s order to archive
The Chancellery of the President of Poland has received the Order of the White Eagle that was previously withdrawn from the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Rafał Leśkiewicz, spokesperson for Polish President Karol Nawrocki, has stated.
Speaking on Polsat News, he said the award will not be reassigned to another recipient and will instead be transferred to a special institution for indefinite preservation, Caliber.Az reports, citing Polish media.
“The order has indeed been returned. Today (Monday – ed.) we collected it at the Chancellery of the President,” he noted.
Zelenskyy returned the decoration to Warsaw via Nova Poshta.
The award, which once belonged to the Ukrainian president, will not be reissued.
It will instead be transferred to Poland’s Bureau of Decorations and Nominations.
“It is being placed in storage, where it will be kept with dignity and respect, as it is Poland’s highest and most important state decoration. It will not be awarded to anyone else. The certificate has expired, so the order and its certificate are being transferred to the Chancellery of the President for safekeeping,” Leśkiewicz added.
Against this backdrop, Deputy Speaker of the Polish Senate Michał Kamiński has renounced his Ukrainian awards in protest over the glorification of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).
