Prominent Azerbaijani writer celebrates 85th anniversary
On March 14, the chairman of Azerbaijan Writers' Union, People's writer Anar turns 85 years old.
With his writings, Anar is regarded as the most popular author not just in Azerbaijan but throughout the whole Turkic world. His numerous artistic and journalistic endeavors, as well as his films, are examples of his devoted commitment to the people.
Anar is primarily a novelist and short-story writer although in the past, he has also authored screenplays and directed films as well as acted in a film.
"Today I am turning 85 years old, congratulations have been coming since the morning, both friends and readers congratulate me. Many people congratulated me. I also thank you for your congratulations and attention," he said in an interview with Modern.Az.
The writer said that he will be at work on his birthday, and then he will celebrate his 85th birthday surrounded by his family.
"I will be at work today, I am at work as the chairman of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union in my new age, I continue my activities for the betterment of the union. A new age means new plans. We also have plans for the future. I am busy with creativity, and I will continue my activity from now on. I will celebrate my birthday only with my family," he added.
He said that despite being 85 years old, his health is in good condition.
Speaking to Cebhe.info about his life, the writer said that it is difficult for him to remember some memory: "It is difficult to say something, I have to remember all 85 years that I have lived".
Talking about his future plans, the 85-year-old writer said that he is currently working on new works.
"I have a plan to work, study and write for the future,"
The writer emphasized that he will celebrate his 85th birthday with his family.
Anar was born to the family of Azerbaijani poets Rasul Rza (1910–1981) and Nigar Rafibeyli (1913–1981) born in 1938. After finishing a 10-year music school in Baku, he entered the Philology Department at the Baku State University in 1955. He later completed courses on screen writing and production in Moscow.
Since 1987, he has been the chairman of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union (AWU). At the next congress held in 2022, the writer was again elected as the chairman of the AWU.
On March 14, 1998, he was awarded the "Independence" order on the occasion of his 60th birthday, as well as the honorary title of "People's Writer".
He wrote novels ("The Sixth Floor of the Five-Story Building"), short stories ("White Harbor", "Contact", "The Last Night of Last Year") and plays ("Summer Days of the City", "A Person's Person").
The wirter is the author of more than 10 film scripts ("Land. Sea. Fire. Sky", "The Day Passed", "Dada Gorgud", "Tahmina", "Hotel Room", etc.), translation and publicist articles. He directed the films such as "Dante's Jubilee", "Chords of Long Life", "Window of Sorrow", etc.
