This latest launch involved deploying a single satellite into Low Earth Orbit for a confidential commercial client, executed with remarkable efficiency, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The mission, dubbed "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes", lifted off from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in Mahia, New Zealand, at 11:54 PM on November 5, 2024.
This marks the 12th Electron launch of the year, surpassing the Company's previous record of ten launches set in 2023. The Electron rocket is now recognised as the third most frequently launched rocket globally by vehicle type and the second most launched in the United States annually.
Significantly, today’s mission was launched less than ten weeks after the contract was signed, marking one of the fastest contract-to-launch turnarounds in the Company’s history. Traditionally, launch timelines could extend over several years from contract signing to launch, often leading to delays and limiting opportunities for satellite operators.
Rocket Lab has transformed this model by enabling customers to secure and execute launches within a matter of weeks. This capability allows for quicker technology testing, earlier revenue generation from satellite constellations, and rapid data acquisition from orbit on near-demand timelines.
The accelerated launch process is made possible by the standardised and rapid production of Electron vehicles, adaptable launch sites, established launch systems, and a highly skilled team that can facilitate year-round launch availability.
Sir Peter Beck, founder and CEO of Rocket Lab, commented: “This successful launch demonstrates the outstanding capabilities of the Rocket Lab team and the Electron rocket: a streamlined process from contract to orbit, precise deployment accuracy, and a responsive service tailored precisely to our customers’ needs. With a perfect record of 12 for 12 this year across commercial, civil, and national security missions, I am proud of our team for consistently delivering as we strive for a record year in launch and space systems.”
