Riots erupt in The Hague following Eritrean citizens clash
The Dutch police used tear gas to quell the riots that broke out as a result of a fight between two groups of Eritrean citizens in The Hague, TASS reports, citing the news portal NL Times.
According to him, the reason for the start of the riots is still unknown. The clashes occurred near the event pavilion, Eritreans threw stones, bicycles and road signs at the police.
A reporter from the scene said rioters broke the windows of the pavilion and tried to get inside, with police defending the building. Eritreans were dispersed by police vans, according to the ANP reporter.
A police spokesman confirmed that the mayor of The Hague had authorized the use of tear gas by police. The mayor also ordered a state of emergency in a 500-meter radius around the pavilion, according to a spokesman for The Hague municipality.
Two police cars were set on fire during the riots, no injuries were reported.
