Riyadh strongly condemns Iran’s strikes on UAE in high-level call
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud has condemned what he described as unjustified Iranian attacks on the territory of the United Arab Emirates during a phone call with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Prince bin Salman reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for the UAE in ensuring its security and stability. The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen regional security and stability, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Saudi Press Agency.
Recent escalation in the Gulf region has involved a series of missile and drone attacks attributed to Iran targeting the United Arab Emirates.
These attacks on May 4 mark the first on the UAE since Iran and the United States agreed to a ceasefire on April 8.
Air defence systems have intercepted multiple incoming projectiles, while some attacks have still caused fires and limited injuries, including incidents at oil-related sites and near key shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz.
The UAE government has condemned these actions as a serious violation of sovereignty and has stated that it reserves the right to respond, while also stressing coordination with regional and international partners to maintain stability.
