Russia, Belarus refuse to extradite citizens to international courts
Russian President Vladimir Putin has submitted a law to the State Duma to ratify an agreement with Belarus on measures for the mutual protection of citizens in international justice, according to the Duma’s database.
The draft federal law provides for the ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus on measures for the mutual protection of citizens from unjustified prosecution by foreign states and international judicial bodies, which was signed in Moscow on March 13, 2025, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The agreement, signed by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko on March 13, 2025, provides for mutual protection of citizens against unjustified prosecution by foreign states and international judicial bodies and addresses issues including the immunity of officials.
The signing ceremony took place in the Malachite Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace, following talks between the two leaders.
