Russia’s arms exports to Southeast Asia reach 50% of total portfolio, says official

The share of South-East Asia (SEA) countries in Russia's total portfolio of arms orders is about 50%, said Dmitry Shugaev, Director of Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS).

During the Airshow China 2024 aerospace event, Shugaev said, "Southeast Asian countries are our traditional partners and continue to show interest in acquiring Russian military products. The share of these countries in the Russian export order portfolio is about 50 per cent," Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.

According to Shugaev, the relations between Russia and China have the character of bilateral comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation. 

He added that military-technical cooperation occupies a special place in the system of communications between the states. The FSVTS head noted that deliveries are carried out strictly under contracts.

On November 12, the Airshow China 2024 exhibition opened in the Chinese city of Zhuhai. The exhibition has been held since 1996 in even years at the airport in Zhuhai, a special economic zone in the south of China (Guangdong province). Civil and military aircraft, airfield equipment, space technologies, ground equipment, rocket and aircraft engines, missiles and aircraft weapons, navigation and flight control systems, airport equipment, training systems, air defence systems, etc. are presented to visitors.

The air show program includes strategic displays of aerospace products, demonstration flights, forums and seminars. 

Russia is a traditional participant in the air show in Zhuhai. The Russian exhibit pays special attention to modern aviation weapons (AW). Rosoboronexport and the Tactical Missile Weapons Corporation (KTRV) present a large number of missiles and bombs of various types. Some of these models were previously shown only at Russian exhibitions, and now they are at a foreign event for the first time.

The Russian exposition, as always of outstanding size, was prepared by the organization Rosoboronexport. It presents hundreds of various developments and samples of a wide range of classes.
