Russia to investigate presence of mercenaries from French Legion in Ukraine
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation will study the information that mercenaries from France and Poland are fighting in the ranks of the Ukrainian army.
According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by the official representative of the department Svetlana Petrenko.
She recalled that in the village of Izyumskoye near Kharkov, Russian missile forces destroyed a detachment of Polish mercenaries - about 30 people. In addition, according to information available to the Russian side, there are “fighters of the French Legion” in the territorial defense forces of Ukraine.
Petrenko stated that these facts will be documented and investigated as part of a criminal case on the recruitment and participation of foreign mercenaries in the conduct of a “special military operation to protect the inhabitants of Donbass” by Russian military personnel.
Last week, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that they had at their disposal a list of almost 600 people who arrived in Ukraine from 47 countries. Investigators are trying to establish their whereabouts and the circumstances of their participation in the conflict.
