Russia wants to launch criminal case against People's Artist Akhedzhakova
The head of the Federal Project on Security and Anti-Corruption Vitaly Borodin has asked Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov to recognize People's Artist of Russia Liya Akhedzhakova as a foreign agent and initiate three criminal cases against her, including an article on treason.
Borodin also asked the Prosecutor-General's Office to consider recognising the people's artist as a foreign agent and depriving her of her awards and honorary titles following her statements on Russia’s policy of demilitarisation and denationalisation of Ukraine, TASS reports, citing the appeal.
The appeal said that Akhedzhakova, who lost her job at the Sovremennik theatre for her pro-Ukrainian statements and actions, while living in Russia, constantly gives interviews to Ukrainian TV channels, in one of which she openly wishes Ukraine a victory.
The actress said on social networks that she supported the Ukrainian army with money and encouraged others to do the same.
Liya Akhedzhakova is a theatre and cinema actress, People's Artist of the Russian Federation. She was born in Dnepropetrovsk (Ukrainian SSR) on July 9, 1938.
