Armenia detains director of "Tashir Pizza" chain in tax evasion case
Vaghinak Kazaryan, director of the "Tashir Pizza" restaurant chain in Armenia, has been placed under arrest for one month, Armenian media reported, citing activist Mesrop Yesayan.
The pizzeria network is owned by Russian-Armenian oligarch Samvel Karapetyan, who himself was recently arrested in Armenia.
According to the reports, a court decision was made late at night to detain Kazaryan. The Investigative Committee of Armenia later clarified the grounds for the arrest, stating that the case involves "the non-payment of taxes, duties, or other mandatory payments in especially large amounts by a group of individuals through prior collusion."
The case is part of a broader investigation into alleged large-scale financial crimes involving figures linked to Karapetyan's business empire in Armenia.
