Türkiye to begin offshore oil, gas exploration in Pakistan under new deal - Turkish FM
Turkish companies will begin oil and natural gas exploration off the coast of Pakistan following a landmark energy agreement between the two countries, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced.
Speaking at a joint press conference, Fidan described the agreement as a “strategic milestone” that aligns with Türkiye’s broader energy expansion strategy, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
“This will be the first such venture for our companies in Pakistan’s offshore zone,” he noted, underlining the significance of the cooperation for both nations.
Fidan emphasised that the deal reflects the deepening institutional partnership between Türkiye and Pakistan.
“As our President has said, there are no winners in war, and no losers in peace,” he added, reiterating Ankara’s support for diplomacy and regional dialogue.
The Turkish minister also highlighted the importance of trilateral cooperation among Türkiye, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan, saying that the three countries are working to prioritise peace and dialogue in the region.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar welcomed the agreement, praising Türkiye’s unwavering support. “Türkiye has always stood by Pakistan, especially during our recent tensions with India,” he said. “Our strong friendship is evolving into deeper cooperation.”
