10 July 2025 10:11
Georgian authorities have detained 28 foreign nationals illegally residing in the country over the past several days, officials announced.
The detainees include citizens from 13 countries, among them Azerbaijan, Belarus, Israel, and Russia. Other nationalities involved are Egypt, Iraq, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, India, Jordan, Iran, Pakistan, and China, Caliber.Az reports citing Georgian media.
The migrants are currently held in a Temporary Accommodation Centre while the authorities carry out the necessary procedures for their deportation.
The decision to expel foreign nationals from Georgia rests both with the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the courts, which review each case individually.
