Russian MoD signs contract with Chechen volunteer squad

The Russian Defence Ministry and Chechnya-led Akhmat squad of volunteers, trained by the Russian University of Special Forces, have signed the first contract defining the activities of volunteer units in a combat zone.

The document was signed by Alexei Kim, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, and Adam Dashayev, director of the Russian Special Forces University, TASS reports.

In March, an order was signed in Russia specifying how fighters from volunteer units would be incorporated into the combined troop formation. It envisions that by July 1, fighters of the volunteer formations will sign contracts with the Defence Ministry.
