Saudi Arabia, Qatar call for peaceful solution to Ukraine crisis
The authorities of Saudi Arabia and Qatar have pointed to the importance of resolving the conflict in Ukraine by peaceful means.
The relevant remarks were made in a joint statement adopted at the end of the Qatar-Saudi Coordination Council meeting held in Doha, TASS reports.
"Regarding the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the sides emphasized the importance of resolving the contradictions through peaceful means and taking measures to reduce escalation in a way that contributes to restoring security and stability, as well as limiting the negative consequences of this crisis," the statement, the text of which was published by the Saudi Press Agency, reads.
Qatar praised the efforts made by Saudi Prime Minister and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, "including the release of several prisoners of different nationalities, as well as ongoing efforts in this direction." For its part, Riyadh also appreciated Doha's mediation efforts between Moscow and Kyiv to "reunite children with their families in Ukraine."
