Azerbaijani products on display at int'l charity fair in Ankara PHOTO
Azerbaijani national dishes, teas, traditional carpets, and souvenirs attracted significant attention at an international charity fair held in Ankara, organised by the Association of Solidarity of Spouses of Turkish Diplomats (DMEDD).
The event brought together representatives of 50 diplomatic missions in Ankara, their spouses, members of the press, and local residents, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Türkiye presented its products across two stands. One showcased a variety of traditional Azerbaijani dishes, while the other featured Azerbaijani-made teas, mini-samples of carpets, kelagayi (traditional scarves), and other cultural souvenirs, drawing strong interest from visitors.
The fair also included dance and performance programs featuring participants from various countries, including Azerbaijan.
DMEDD head Simay Gümrükçü stated that her organisation, together with members of diplomatic missions abroad and in Ankara, and diplomats’ spouses, played a major role in organising the event, which is held every two years.
Representatives from the Azerbaijani, Slovenian, Macedonian, Turkmen, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Japanese, Bangladeshi, Philippine, and Iranian diplomatic missions praised the fair’s high standards.
Established on September 24, 1981, DMEDD supports the spouses and children of diplomats and other Turkish Foreign Ministry employees who died in the line of duty. Over the years, the association has expanded its activities, focusing on charitable initiatives in education and healthcare.
