Russian drone strike in Kharkiv, shelling across Donetsk spark fires PHOTO / VIDEO
A Russian drone strike on an educational facility in the village of Podserednye in the Kupiansk district of Ukraine’s Kharkiv region has sparked a fire, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).
Emergency crews, including fire-rescue units, a medical team and a community rescue officer, were deployed to the scene. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties.
Despite what authorities described as extremely challenging conditions in the Donetsk region, Ukrainian emergency services continued responding to the aftermath of Russian shelling and extinguishing fires across several settlements.
The SES reported that Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Sviatohirsk and the village of Zavydo-Kudasheve came under fire over the past 24 hours. The attacks damaged private homes and triggered fires in residential and outbuilding structures, as well as in facilities on the grounds of a local enterprise and a shop.
Rescue teams were forced to temporarily suspend operations due to the threat of repeat strikes. All fires were eventually brought under control, and no injuries were reported, the SES said.
