Serbia seeks Kazakhstan’s support in training special forces
Belgrade is looking to strengthen security cooperation with Kazakhstan, with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić requesting assistance in training Serbia’s special forces during talks in Astana with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Speaking after the meeting, Vučić said Serbia is counting on Kazakhstan’s expertise to help enhance the capabilities of its special operations units. He praised what he described as the high level of professionalism demonstrated by Kazakh security forces, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Serbian leader noted that he had closely followed the performances of both Kazakh and Serbian teams at the UAE SWAT Challenge 2026, an international tactical competition that brings together elite law enforcement units from around the world. According to Vučić, the tournament highlighted the strong operational standards of Kazakhstan’s special forces.
In this context, Vučić asked Tokayev to consider providing support in the training of Serbian personnel, framing the request as part of broader efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
