Serbian president hails importance of EU integration during meeting with Polish PM
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has emphasised that the visit of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is a significant event that fosters the development of friendly relations between the countries and strengthens the European future of the Balkan region.
"I had an excellent and meaningful meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, during which we reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation on key issues. We discussed Serbia's path to the EU and the European integration of the Western Balkan countries, as well as the need for clearer signals from Brussels regarding the expansion of the union," Vučić stated, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"I emphasised the importance our country places on cooperation with Poland, not only due to its support for our EU accession but also in terms of strengthening economic ties and the potential for investment in strategic projects. We also discussed the current situation in the region and the world, as well as shared challenges such as security and economic issues. In this context, I highlighted the significance of intensifying diplomatic efforts to find lasting solutions to the growing problems we face," the Serbian leader stated.
"This meeting also represents an important step toward deepening the friendly relations between Serbia and Poland and reinforcing our country's European future, for which I especially thanked our esteemed guest," the president said.
Earlier, the Serbian leader mentioned that he would be unable to attend the BRICS summit in Russia’s Kazan city due to previously scheduled negotiations with the Polish prime minister.
The BRICS group was established in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa joining in 2011.
As of January 1, 2024, Egypt, Iran, the UAE, and Ethiopia became new members. The summit in Kazan marked the first participation of these countries as full-fledged members.
