Show me your friends, I'll tell you who you are Hikmat Hajiyev responds to The Washington Post columnist

12 August 2023 09:36

Azerbaijani presidential foreign policy aide - head of the Foreign Policy Department under the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev has lashed out at an article by The Washington Post columnist David Ignatius about the Lachin road and said that the columnist justifies the occupation.

The presidential aide wrote about this in his post on the social network X, formerly Twitter, Report says.

“Opinion by David Ignatius @IgnatiusPost at @wapo is from the series of typical pre-written propaganda/misinformation articles against Azerbaijan. Tell me your friends, I tell who you are! D. Ignatious is a good friend of Ruben Vardanyan. The latter is criminal oligarch.

“Ruben Vardanyan backchanneled 2 billion worth money to offshore banks through money laundering schemes. D. Ignatious found comfortable sanctuary under the Aurora Initiative of Ruben Vardanyan who had parachute jump to Karabakh last year and glorified by WaPo columnist Ignatius.

“In the same manner as in 2016 when @IgnatiusPost illegally visited Karabakh region of Azerbaijan continues to support and act as an advocate of Armenia sponsored separatist puppet regime by misinterpreting all facts on the ground and justifying occupation.

“As journalist visiting then occupied lands of Azerbaijan in 2016, you turned a blind eye/deaf mute attitude to all vandalism there. On functioning of Lachin road, your biased article isn't surprise to anyone. But such articles on WaPo reminds me orders of the PolBureau of Soviet time,” H. Hajiyev noted.
