Turkish scholar: Azerbaijan’s military success becomes triumph of historical justice

27 April 2025 10:44

Turkish Associate Professor Ersin Oralli from Gazi University in Ankara has written in a recent article that Azerbaijan’s triumph in reclaiming its territories occupied by Armenia has transcended military success, standing as a powerful symbol of the restoration of historical justice.

The piece was published in Star newspaper, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Oralli explained that, following Azerbaijan's victory, Baku has taken practical and calculated steps towards achieving long-term peace. Meanwhile, in Yerevan, the realisation is growing that strategic cooperation with neighboring countries, particularly Türkiye and Azerbaijan, is essential for ensuring lasting stability in the region.

"The Azerbaijani people have shown the world that every patience has its limits, and the pursuit of justice cannot be silenced by time," Oralli wrote, reflecting on the significance of Azerbaijan's victory.

He expressed his belief that a potential peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia would not only be a monumental step forward for both nations but would also open a new chapter in the history of the South Caucasus. The potential agreement could pave the way for a more stable and peaceful future for the entire region.

Oralli also pointed to Türkiye’s unwavering support for Azerbaijan, which has been evident across all platforms, advocating for a quick and just peace in the region. He described Azerbaijan's victory in the 44-day Karabakh war as a source of immense pride for the entire Turkic world.

"If the dialogue process in the region continues in the right direction and steps are taken to prevent the repetition of past mistakes made by Armenia, the South Caucasus will experience an era of true stability for the first time in years. This stability will be a crucial factor contributing to the future of all of Eurasia," Oralli noted in his article.

The Turkish expert emphasised that peace is not just a signature on a document, but the courage to accept history.

“Today, this courage is making its way to Yerevan,” he added, reinforcing the idea that genuine peace involves acknowledging the past and working toward a future of mutual respect and cooperation.
