Iranian president pays tribute to Azerbaijani National Leader Heydar Aliyev PHOTO
President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Massoud Pezeshkian, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, has arrived at the Alley of Honors and paid a tribute to the memory of the Azerbaijani National Leader, Heydar Aliyev.
Pezeshkian laid a wreath at Heydar Aliyev's grave, reflecting his deep respect for the great leader who played a pivotal role in Azerbaijan's independence and statehood, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The Iranian president also commemorated the memory of the prominent ophthalmologist and academician, Zarifa Aliyeva, and placed fresh flowers on her grave.
Following his visit to the Alley of Honors, Pezeshkian continued his tour at the Martyrs' Alley, where he honored Azerbaijani soldiers and civilians who lost their lives in the fight for independence and territorial integrity.
At the "Eternal Flame" monument, the Iranian president laid another wreath, symbolising solidarity and respect for those who sacrificed everything for Azerbaijan's sovereignty.
As part of his visit, Pezeshkian was given a detailed briefing on the history of these hallowed sites and was shown the ongoing urban development and beautification projects taking place throughout Baku.
