Azerbaijani FM, OSCE chief discuss regional security, cooperation in Baku

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioğlu during his visit to Baku.

Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan shared details of the meeting on X, Caliber.Az reports.

"In a tête-à-tête meeting, the sides discussed the state and prospects of Azerbaijan–OSCE cooperation, regional security affairs, and the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The evolving situation in the OSCE area was addressed, and the need for dialogue and stability was emphasized," the statement reads.

Earlier, on April 25, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with Sinirlioğlu, Secretary General of the OSCE. During the meeting, Aliyev congratulated Sinirlioğlu on his appointment and highlighted the South Caucasus as a key focus for the OSCE. Sinirlioğlu acknowledged Azerbaijan's progress in its peace treaty with Armenia and underscored ongoing efforts to normalise bilateral relations.

The OSCE Secretary General also discussed the organisation's cooperation with Azerbaijan. In response, President Aliyev called for the abolition of the OSCE Minsk Group, which he said had failed to resolve the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, and urged Armenia to take similar steps.

He reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s full territorial integrity and sovereignty, emphasising the adherence to the Helsinki Final Act and international law in the South Caucasus.
