Sweden allows power outages in winter
Electricity operator Svenska kraftnät of Sweden has announced the possibility of blackouts next winter.
The company’s chief strategist Niklas Damsgård issued a warning.
“Something could happen this winter,” says Damsgård, Dagens Nyheter quotes him.
Damsgaard argues that the development of the situation depends on the effect that the situation in Ukraine will have on the energy market.
It is possible that some consumers will be without electricity in order to prevent accidents in the entire power system. It is not known how long such periods may be, the newspaper writes on July 30.
The representative of the company believes that blackouts can occur in the morning. It is this time that is associated with the largest energy consumption. It is clarified that shutdowns can occur automatically, as well as in manual mode.
Previously, there were no such precedents in Sweden. The Malmö energy district, which covers the southernmost part of the country, is considered the most vulnerable in the country.
Earlier it became known about the rise in electricity prices in Europe. For example, in Norway they updated the historical record.
