Syrian opposition said grateful to Israel for eliminating IRGC generals
The strike on Damascus (attributed to Israel) that killed several top officers of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has raised a wave of outrage in Arab countries. But among Syrian citizens, some welcomed the strike.
According to the Kan-11 website, opponents of the regime expressed satisfaction over the elimination of Iranian officers and generals.
"We thank Israel for these bombings," Syrian opposition spokesman Tarek al-Aqla, from Idlib, one of the few remaining major enclaves controlled by opposition forces, told Kan-11. We are very happy about what happened. The generals and officers who were eliminated are Iranian criminals and terrorists who abused our children, and our women. They killed many Syrians and occupied Syrian territories. We hope that Israel will continue to bomb Iranian targets."
Another opposition figure, a military man by profession, added, on condition of anonymity, "I am following the Israeli attacks in Damascus and Aleppo. People here (in northwestern Syria) are happy that these attacks are taking place."
