Taiwan monitors China’s activity in its airspace, territorial waters
The Taiwanese Armed Forces have detected the approach of 28 aircraft and 7 ships from the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA).
Some 25 Chinese aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, a demarcation line that separates Taiwan from mainland China, Caliber.Az reports, citing Taiwan's Defence Ministry.
“28 sorties of PLA aircraft and 7 PLAN [People's Liberation Army Navy] vessels operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. 25 out of 28 sorties crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s northern and southwestern ADIZ [Air Defense Identification Zone]. We have monitored the situation and responded accordingly,” the ministry wrote on X.
Taiwan's defence ministry regularly detects the approach of aircraft and ships from the People's Republic of China. This heightened military activity from the People's Republic of China (PRC) has become a consistent concern for Taiwan, especially as tensions between the two sides remain high. Since China views Taiwan as a breakaway province, it has increasingly conducted military exercises and patrols near the island in recent years. Taiwan, in turn, has strengthened its defence systems and maintained close surveillance of any incursions, reflecting the growing security risks in the Taiwan Strait and the broader Indo-Pacific region.
