Tasnim: Iran makes “final” decision to skip negotiations with US
Iran’s negotiating team has informed the American side, via a Pakistani intermediary, that it will not attend the meeting in Islamabad.
At present, there are no prospects for participation in the talks, Iran’s state news agency Tasnim reports, citing sources.
According to the Iranian side, the United States has fully violated its commitments under the ceasefire and failed to impose conditions on Israel to halt hostilities in Lebanon. This issue has posed serious obstacles to the negotiations for several days.
Moreover, during the first round of talks in Islamabad, the American side put forward numerous excessive demands that effectively violated the initial terms, leading to a deadlock in the negotiations.
“Despite its defeat on the battlefield, the United States believed it could compensate for its failure in the war by advancing excessive demands at the negotiating table,” the Tasnim report states.
During the exchange of messages over the past few days, the United States has not withdrawn its excessive demands, and no meaningful progress has been achieved. For this reason, Iran has stated that, under the current circumstances, it considers participation in the talks a waste of time, as the United States is hindering the achievement of any proper agreement, the agency added.
