Tehran signals expanded use of previously unused weapons
Iran is deploying weapons “not previously used” in its ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel, according to a statement by Iranian military spokesperson Amir Akraminia, cited by CNN.
Speaking in an interview with Iranian state television on Wednesday, March 18, Akraminia said that Tehran had already begun using new types of weaponry in the conflict and would intensify their deployment in the coming days.
“In this war, we have used weapons that we have not used before, and in the coming days, we will use them more actively. You are seeing reports about their use,” he said.
Residents of the United Arab Emirates and Israel — among the countries most affected by Iranian strikes — have reported an increase in loud explosions linked to missile interceptions in recent days.
Iran has also stepped up its use of cluster warheads on ballistic missiles. While such munitions were already employed during the June 12-day war, Israeli military officials say their use has become significantly more frequent in the current phase of the conflict.
