Trump backs Armenia’s Pashinyan for re-election
U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly endorsed Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan ahead of Armenia’s June 7 presidential election, praising him as a leader committed to regional peace and economic development.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump described Pashinyan as “a great friend and Leader” who was making Armenia “strong, wealthy, and very secure," Caliber.Az reports.
Trump said the Armenian leader shared his vision of “peace and prosperity” for Armenia and the wider South Caucasus region. He also highlighted recent diplomatic engagement between Washington and Yerevan, noting that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had recently visited Armenia to advance “important deals” between the two countries.
The U.S. president further announced plans for the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity,” a project that would transform the South Caucasus and strengthen energy links between Central Asia and the United States through American energy companies.
“Soon, the United States and Armenia will break ground together on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity,” Trump wrote.
He concluded the message by giving Pashinyan his “complete and total endorsement” for re-election and used the slogan “Make [Armenia] Great Again — MAGA.”
