Polish finance minister blames president for rising fuel prices

04 August 2026 18:58

Polish Finance Minister Andrzej Domański has accused President Karol Nawrocki of being responsible for high fuel prices at petrol stations across the country.

Speaking on RMF radio, Domański claimed that the current prices were the result of the president's actions, alleging that Nawrocki had sided with fuel companies.

“What we are seeing at petrol stations is the result of the president’s actions. Karol Nawrocki has sided with the fuel companies. <...> If President Nawrocki wants to undermine the economy and hit the wallets of Polish people, then this is obviously a catastrophic decision,” Domański said.

The finance minister also said the government would consider reinstating the preferential CPN programme, which was introduced to help curb and reduce fuel prices. The programme expired on June 30.
