Trump: Iran was “dying to sign” deal with US
President Donald Trump said Iran was “dying to sign” a ceasefire deal with the United States in an interview with Fortune published on May 18, as he linked the timing of potential interest-rate cuts to the ongoing conflict.
Speaking to the magazine, Trump suggested that monetary policy decisions may remain on hold until the war is resolved, arguing that the economic picture is too distorted by wartime conditions to assess underlying trends, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
“You can’t really look at the figures until the war is over,” he said, referring to the conflict involving Iran.
Trump also reiterated his claim that Tehran is seeking to reach an agreement with Washington, but criticised what he described as inconsistencies in Iran’s negotiating approach.
“They make a deal, and then they send you a paper that has no relationship to the deal you made,” he told Fortune.
