Trump demands Harvard reveal details of its foreign students amid funding dispute
US President Donald Trump has announced that Harvard University was requested to provide data on its international students.
"Why isn’t Harvard saying that almost 31% of their students are from FOREIGN LANDS, and yet those countries, some not at all friendly to the United States, pay NOTHING toward their student’s education, nor do they ever intend to," Caliber.Az reports, citing Trump’s message in Truth Social.
"Nobody told us that! We want to know who those foreign students are, a reasonable request since we give Harvard BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, but Harvard isn’t exactly forthcoming. We want those names and countries. Harvard has $52,000,000, use it, and stop asking for the Federal Government to continue GRANTING money to you!” he wrote.
On May 22, the US revoked Harvard University’s license to enroll international students, effectively blocking their entry into the country. The university responded immediately by filing a lawsuit against the federal government, and on May 23, a court temporarily suspended the controversial decision.
Harvard’s administration described the government’s actions as political pressure and retaliation - particularly due to the university’s refusal to support White House initiatives, including the ban on admitting students whom the administration deemed hostile to American values. Previously, the Trump administration had also cut $450 million in grants to Harvard.
