Senator: Any security deal on Ukraine must be approved by US Congress
US Senator Lindsey Graham said any security agreement aimed at ending the war in Ukraine must be approved by Congress, as Washington debates a possible peace deal promoted by US President Donald Trump.
“I appreciate the hard work of President Trump and his team as they try to end this bloodbath in Ukraine honorably and justly. Just a reminder, any security agreement as part of ending the bloodbath in Ukraine must come to Congress,” Graham wrote on X, Caliber.Az reports.
The Republican senator said he had been following the negotiations closely and stressed that any deal should prevent future Russian aggression.
“The goal is to make sure we do a deal this time that stops future invasions, something Obama and Biden failed to do,” he wrote.

Graham also addressed the possibility of territorial compromises, saying he did not expect all Russian forces to leave Ukraine in the near future, but warned against any settlement that could be seen as legitimising aggression.
“However, we do not want to end this conflict in a manner that rewards aggression. The world is watching,” he said.
Graham’s wrote the post in response to an article by Reuters, which quoted Trump saying that Ukraine — not Russia — was delaying a potential peace agreement, a position that contrasts sharply with the views of many European allies, who argue that Moscow has little interest in ending the war.
In an interview in the Oval Office on January 14, Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin was ready to conclude his nearly four-year-old invasion of Ukraine, while he described Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as more reluctant to finalise a deal.
