Poland to establish new air defence regiment in Brzesko

Poland will establish an additional air defence regiment in the southern part of the country, Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

The 87th Air Defence Regiment will be formed in Brzesko and will eventually comprise more than 1,000 soldiers, the minister said in a post on X.

“In Brzesko, we will form the 87th Air Defence Regiment, which will ultimately have more than 1,000 soldiers. A company of the 113th Tarnów Light Infantry Battalion of the Territorial Defence Forces will also be stationed here,” Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote.

The regiment will be equipped with systems for air defence, missile defence, and countering drones, according to the minister. He did not specify which weapons or systems will be deployed.
