Israel says it struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it carried out strikes against Hezbollah personnel and infrastructure in southern Lebanon in response to a drone launched toward Israeli troops operating in a designated security zone.

According to the IDF, the strikes took place overnight on September 4 and targeted weapons storage facilities that it said were intended for use by Hezbollah to plan and direct attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians, Caliber.Az reports. 

The military said the strikes were conducted to eliminate what it described as an immediate threat.

The IDF said the strikes followed an attempted Hezbollah attack on September 4, during which a drone was launched toward Israeli soldiers operating in the security zone. No Israeli military personnel were injured, according to the statement.

The IDF said it would continue taking action against threats posed by Hezbollah while maintaining its commitment to the ceasefire agreement.
