Russia attacks Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions amid reported ceasefire VIDEO

Russian forces launched attacks on Ukraine’s Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions overnight and early on September 5, despite reports that Ukrainian forces had been ordered to observe a temporary ceasefire.

In Boryspil, in the Kyiv region, a Russian attack damaged a nine-story residential building, causing fires on the roof and in one of the apartments, according to Kyiv Regional Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko. Two women were injured and taken to hospital.

Ukraine’s Air Force had warned during the night that Boryspil was being targeted by Russian jet-powered drones. The attacks continued after the reported start of the ceasefire period.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian forces struck an industrial facility in the city of Kamianske, killing four people and injuring five others, regional authorities said. Three of the injured were hospitalized, including a 30-year-old woman who was being treated in intensive care, regional administration head Oleksandr Hanzha said.

The attacks came shortly after Ukrainian media reported that Kyiv had ordered its forces to halt fighting as part of a temporary ceasefire. Ukrainska Pravda reported that Ukrainian units had been instructed to observe the pause from September 5 through September 8, citing military sources. Kyiv was also awaiting confirmation that Russia would reciprocate.

The reported pause coincides with the planned visits to Moscow and Kyiv by U.S. presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who are expected to hold talks aimed at advancing efforts to end the war.
